PEOPLE. PLACES. THINGS.
‘People. Places. Things.’ is a book and exhibition by Laura. Available to purchase at Rough Trade, the images are shot mostly on 35mm film with a camera that has accompanied Laura everywhere on her travels.
Some of the imagery documents socio-political situations – the images taken in her home of London are from pro-choice demonstrations, whilst the Glasgow images were taken at a rave celebrating the royal wedding. Other imagery focuses on landscapes, from the rapidly evolving Hong Kong skyline to the expansive Pacific coastline in Ecuador. Several photographs document various different home lives, such as Mercedes’ humble kitchen in Cuba, or the young boy outside a ramshackle row of houses in Belize. People’s work lives are represented, too; the magazine seller in Colombia and the actor resting between shots in Los Angeles give a brief insight into everyday people’s lives over several continents.
