Nutley Edge

Outward Housing approached me to photograph 10 adults with learning disabilities on an activity retreat in East Sussex over 3 days. The brief was simple; capture the service users building a nature trail through the 11 acres of land surrounding Nutley Edge holiday cottage, whilst creating photographs that didn’t focus on disability. Over the 3 days I spent at Nutley Edge, I worked with people with a large range of learning disabilities; autism, challenging behaviours and mental health issues. The job was very fulfilling – not only was I out and about in the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but the opportunity to engage with all the service users was an incredibly positive and enriching experience.
